I’m back in San Diego and excited to share that I’ve been selected as a speaker for Nathan Young’s The New Narrative presents: COMMUNITY!

I’m joining an awesome line up of San Diego writers, to share personal narrative pieces on our experiences with community. If you like listening to a good story, coupled with intelligent reflection on what creates, challenges and sustains communities, then join us on Thursday, 11/12 from 7-10pm at Bread and Salt.

ABOUT THE EVENT:

In our first live social event, New Narrative explores the theme of Community.

Humans are social creatures. We long to be in the presence of other humans and work together to get things done. We depend on each other for survival and our emotional well being.

Yet we’ve formed habits to increasingly replace and shield us from human interaction. Have we taken it all too far? How can we live together in ways that are more cohesive? What challenges do we face in making it happen? What does an economically viable and emotionally affirming community look like? What are the stakes involved in making it happen?

We bring together speakers from the arts, non-profit, business, academia, activism, and neighborhood communities to share their stories, insights and conflicts on the theme of Community.
